Legal Counsel
Advise SecUnit on contracts, compliance, privacy, and corporate matters as the company scales in healthcare cybersecurity.
About the Role
SecUnit operates at the intersection of cybersecurity, healthcare, and enterprise software, a domain with significant legal and regulatory complexity. We are looking for Legal Counsel to advise on contracts, compliance, privacy, and corporate matters as we scale.
What You'll Do
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements: customer contracts, BAAs, NDAs, vendor agreements
- Advise on regulatory compliance including HIPAA, state privacy laws, and data protection regulations
- Support corporate governance, IP protection, and employment matters
- Partner with sales on deal structuring and contract negotiations for enterprise customers
- Manage outside counsel relationships for specialized legal needs
- Build scalable legal processes and templates as the company grows
What We're Looking For
- JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership
- 4+ years of legal experience, ideally a mix of law firm and in-house
- Experience with technology contracts and SaaS agreements
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) or data privacy law
- Strong business judgment and ability to balance legal risk with commercial goals
Nice to Have
- Experience in cybersecurity or healthcare technology companies
- Familiarity with venture financing and equity matters
- Understanding of international data protection (GDPR)
- Experience building legal operations at an early-stage company
